RUTHLESS vandals have forced a fed-up doctor to install his own hi-tech CCTV surveillance system.

Dr Bhushan Seimon, of Fulmer Road, Gerrards Cross, has become so sick of vandals ripping slats off his fence that he has set up a camera in the front bedroom of his house in an attempt to catch them.

The hooligans have been terrorising Dr Seimon for more than a year and he is becoming more and more concerned about the seriousness of the offences.

He said: "The crimes are becoming more threatening as they have now come up to my front door and taken away my name plaque.

"The camera has a movement detector with it which automatically turns the camera on if somebody triggers the movement sensor."

When the camera becomes activated it starts up the video recorder and the offenders can be viewed on a television screen in Dr Seimon's house.

He has installed a powerful 500 watt bulb on the front of the house to highlight any vandals who hide under the cover of darkness to carry out their crimes.

He told of one night when he and his wife had given chase to a band of hooligans: "We went to look for them but they had disappeared," he said.

He added: "I would recommend every house to buy one of these cameras."

Gerrards Cross businessman Alan Sealy, who has long campaigned for CCTV in the town, said the camera was a good idea.

He added: "The perceived wisdom is that it is normally used in town centre areas but if someone is that upset about their own property it is understandable that they chuck their own money at it.

"It indicates the extent that he feels helpless in this area."

Inspector Ray Wilks of Gerrards Cross police said the police were all for any initiatives that made it easier for them to catch criminals.
