PROTESTERS have vowed to stand their ground against a McDonald's drive-through and keep up their stance that the food chain should "burger off".
Residents who live near the former White Blackbird Pub, on London Road, Loudwater, have sent at least 100 letters of protest to Wycombe District Council against the food giant's plans to turn it into a drive-through.
More than 150 protesters waved banners and encouraged motorists last Friday to beep their agreement that the former pub should not become a McDonald's.
But hours later graffiti in support of the development was scrawled all over the building.
District councillor Debbie Lewis (Loudwater, Con) said: "We are holding our stand against this development because of the problems of noise, stereos blaring, environmental issues and traffic congestion."
She added that the fact that those supporting the development had scrawled graffiti all over the building proved residents' worst fears.
Victoria Hague, McDonald's spokesman, said McDonald's hoped for an attractive family restaurant and would be holding a meeting with residents to explain the company's plans in more detail.
