NEW dad Danny Dunn has had his driving licence taken off him for three years after being caught drinking and driving for the second time.

The 35-year-old appeared at Wycombe Magistrates Court last Monday, along with his girlfriend and newborn baby, and pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

Balbir Seyan, prosecuting, told the court that Dunn, of Walkham Close, High Wycombe, had been caught by police after a member of the public became concerned about the way he was driving.

He said the incident happened in Oxford Road, High Wycombe, on April 15, when Dunn was stopped by police.

Mr Seyan said Dunn was taken to the police station and found to be nearly twice over the legal drink-drive limit, with a reading of 65 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

The court heard he had a previous drink-driving offence on his licence for which he was disqualified from driving for 18 months in June 1991.

Dunn, defending himself, said: "I had gone out for a drink to celebrate and then got a taxi home.

"My girlfriend thought I was too drunk to come in and wouldn't let me in."

He said he did not think he was that drunk but was 'tired' and got in his car to drive to a friend's house in Downley.

Magistrates disqualified Dunn from driving for three years, which will be reduced by nine months if he successfully completes a driver rehabilitation course.

He was also ordered to pay a £150 fine and £55 costs.
