A JEWELLER has criticised police resources after he suffered an attempted smash and grab.

It is the 14th time De Marsac Jewellers Ltd in Station Parade, Beaconsfield, has been targeted by thieves in 12 years.

Andre De Marsac, who owns the shop, said: " It is obvious that the police in South Bucks need more money to deal with crime."

He added: "How would Jack Straw feel if he was standing in the shop being burgled?"

The two thieves tried to smash the reinforced glass windows of the store with sledgehammers at 4.15pm last Monday.

When the attempt failed they moved to the front door.

Mr De Marsac described the scene: "It got a bit frisky.

"They managed to make a hole so they could get their hand through and release the lock.

"I will not stand back and let that happen in my shop it's a violation of my environment."

Mr De Marsac praised members of the public who gave chase to the thieves. Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and the offenders are described as black, in their 20s and dressed in dark clothing.

They fled in a dark coloured VW Golf from a rearcar park and were in collision with a white Ford Transit on their way out.
