Notts County 0 - Wycombe 2

DAVE Carroll's 99th goal for the club and a late strike by Dannie Bulman eased Wanderers' relegation fears.

Carroll, who played a major part in Wycombe's rise up from the non-league, virtually guaranteed their second division future when he capitalised on a defensive mistake to slot the ball under the keeper to give Wanderers a 21st minute lead against the run of play.

Wycombe rode their luck at times. Former Chairboy Mark Stallard twice went close and Paul McCarthy hit his own cross bar when Danny Allsop's shot defelected off his boot.

But Wycombe sewed up only their second win since their FA Cup semi-Final defeat against Liverpool with Bulman's 87th minute clincher.

The midfielder needed two attempts to finish off a low left wing cross from Danny Senda.

Earlier Carroll had been denied what would have been a spectacular 100th goal for the club.

The veteran weaved his way into the penalty area with a one two before unleashing a fierce drive which the keeper somehow managed to stop.

Carroll also went close with a stinging free kick which County glovesman Darren Ward needed two attempts to gather.
