AN ENTIRE class of schoolgirls were presented with a youth award for helping plans for a Cybercafe get off the ground.

Year 11 pupils at Beaconsfield High School were presented with the award by Beaconsfield Mayor Malcolm Dunlop at the annual mayor's reception in Beaconsfield Town Hall on March 30.

Sonya Sabharwal and Nicola Marchant, both 16, collected the award on behalf of the class.

The pupils of a Year 11 economics group had collected information and data via questionnaires to determine the kind of clientele the proposed Cybercafe would attract.

The cafe was encountering problems after a poor response from older residents in the town.

The compiled information revealed that a cafe would be popular among school children who had nowhere else to go in Beaconsfield.

It also revealed the types of music, drinks and entertainment the young customers would want.

Cllr Dunlop said: "The girls took on the job with a real enthusiasm.

"They went to get reports from Gerrards Cross and Slough and took the task on with a real youthful enthusiasm that deserved an award."
