EGG-THROWING and rafts made out of beer barrels are going to be the order of the day at The Bounty pub's annual fun day.

The raft race and fun day is now in its 12th year and tomorrow, from midday, crowds will be raising money for the charity Give a Local Child a Chance, run by Classic Gold Digital, a radio station in Reading.

Pub landlord David Wright, on the Thames riverside, Bourne End, said it is going to be a full day of fun and events.

He said: "We will be packed out. It is always good fun and it is always popular.

"There will be something for everybody. We are a very child friendly pub so they can join in too."

Competitors in the race will have one hour to make their raft out of beer barrels and the racing will begin at 3pm. Tony James, DJ at Classic Gold FM, will compere and there are prizes for the winner and for the best fancy dressed crew.

On land there will be face painting for the children, an egg-throwing competition, a beer challenge and lots of fun games for all ages.

The fun continues in the evening when one-man band, Dennis Gillison, will entertain the crowds.
