A DISGUSTING heap of rubbish greeted 100 young school children as they turned-up for morning assembly.
Kitchen waste, a box of bananas, a satellite dish and a bed were among the items strewn across the car park at Cadmore End School in High Wycombe.
Christine Billingham, a governor at the school, saw the mess when she took her eight-year-old daughter in on Tuesday morning.
She said: "We are all horrified. The mess was absolutely disgusting. It is awful that people do this anyway, let alone in a school."
To the school's surprise, when they contacted Wycombe District Council, they were told they had to clean-up themselves as the school was on private property.
Mrs Billingham added: "We have been left very disappointed with the council's response. We are not a big school and we have enough trouble finding teachers and cash for books. Then we get no help from the local council when we really need it."
The fly-tippers dumped their load some time between Monday evening and Tuesday morning last week.
Peter Soutar, headteacher at the school, was left to clear-up the rubbish.
A spokesman for Wycombe District Council said: "Whilst the council understand the school's concern with the fly-tipped material, it is the responsibility of landowners to secure and manage their land, which does include the removal of fly-tipped material."
