VISITORS enjoyed an Easter visit to Odds Farm Park as staff aimed to get back on track after taking measures to prevent foot and mouth disease.

The farm, at Wooburn Common, was closed for seven weeks as a precautionary measure, but has now re-opened and hopes to recover lost revenue.

Owner Steve Vinden said: "It was brilliant to see some of the old faces coming back and we were all relieved to get the farm reopened.

"Basically we are only able to open half of what we have normally but people have been so supportive.

"It's great. People are as happy to get on to the farm as we are to see them."

The park is slowly introducing new activities, using the animals at the farm that are not at risk from the disease.

These include rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, donkeys, chipmunks, budgies, ponies and a foal.

During the closure several staff lost their jobs as the foot and mouth crisis hit the farm financially.

"We were lucky that a lot of the laid off staff have come back again," explained Mr Vinden. "Now the aim is to get ourselves back on track. It will take two or more years to recover financially."
