A NURSE is voicing her disgust at the lack of security in Wycombe Hospital car park after discovering her car had been wrecked by vandals.

Theatre nurse Wendy Ringrose now faces an estimated bill of around £2,000 to repair the damage to her car which had been parked in the middle of the day.

She said she returned to her car, one of three that had been trashed, on April 17 feeling "unnerved, very upset and very angry".

She told Midweek: "To think that I come to work to help people and this is what I get. I pay to park there but where does the money go? Not on security.

"When I phoned the hospital to complain I was told they can't do anything. They told me they had security in the past but they cannot afford it because of the new part of the hospital."

Mrs Ringrose said she now has the hassle of waiting for the insurance to cover the car repairs and will have to fork out £400 for a car alarm.

But Martin Leaver, spokesman for South Buckinghamshire NHS Trust, said that large car parks are prone to occasional attacks from vandals.

He added: "We regret the latest incident and will be writing to the nurse. We are working hard to find new ways to improve security."

He denied security had been subject to cost-cutting but said they did have to look at a method which would be value for money.
