PROMISING pupils from John Hampden Grammar School in High Wycombe reaped their hard-earned rewards when they won best company at the Young Enterprise Trade Fair.

Their company, Enigma, competed with ten schools at the fair for the Wycombe and Marlow area at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, High Wycombe, last Wednesday.

Teams of ten to 15 sixth form entrepreneurs competed with each other in categories such as best marketing, and most innovative product.

Each company elected directors, devised products, which included decorative candles and poetry boxes, and raised capital for their business ventures.

"It demonstrates a tremendous spirit of commitment and discipline as many of those taking part sacrificed their spare time" said Gordon Jones, Young Enterprise chairman.

Guest speaker John Weaver, an ex-pupil at Sir William Borlase's Grammar School in Marlow and himself a Young Enterprise Achiever, presented the prizes.

He gave a talk about the benefits of Young Enterprise and the valuable lessons the experience taught him.

"We hope that in coming years all of the schools in the area will take part in this unique experience where winning is not as important as the learning process and efforts reap great rewards," added Mr Jones.
