A TEN-point action plan of recommendations has been launched by the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Putting Business First puts forward recommendations the chamber wants to see implemented by Government, local authorities and other bodies.

Chamber president Jean Charmak said: "The main areas of consistent concern to our members are economic stability, transport, infrastructure, skills, regulation, red tape and business crime.

"Buckinghamshire is part of one of the powerhouse areas of the UK economy. Its continuing prosperity is crucial to the success of the nation."

The chamber is calling for a reduction in the tax burden on business and in red tape which it said is hurting business, creating inefficiencies and stifling entrepreneurship.

It is also renewing its call for more support for business-led training to tackle the skills shortages.

On transport and planning the chamber said the Thames Valley is ideally placed geographically to benefit from the increase in world trade but the region's road, rail and air infrastructure is unable to cope.
