A COLLECTION of photos and memorabilia about High Wycombe Railway Station will be on display in a special exhibition.

Railway enthusiast David Lane will be holding the event called Wycombes First Railway Station, at the Risborough and District Model Railway Club exhibition at the Community Centre, Stratton Road, Princes Risborough, on Saturday.

Mr Lane said: "I will be there presenting a collection of photographs and copies of letters and plans on the history of the Wycombe Railway. If anybody has their own photographs of the railways around Wycombe, they should bring them along."

Just before Christmas the old Broadway Tyres/ATS building, next to High Wycombe train station was given listed status because it was originally the town's first railway station.

The railway to High Wycombe was first planned in 1846, but the complex history of the building started on August 1, 1854, when it opened as the terminus station of a railway line from Maidenhead.

Mr Lane added: "I expect that most people are unaware of its history and just see it as an old building of no importance, so a little bit of history might be useful."

The exhibition takes place from 10am to 5pm.
