CHESHAM Football Club moved into the fourth round of the Berks and Bucks Cup with a 5-1 win over a Flackwell Heath side reduced to nine men just before halftime at The Meadow on Tuesday night.

Jason Eaton and Matt Wojtowicz both did the walk of shame after a mass free-for-all following a foul on Eaton a minute before the break.

Eaton, who had been booked just four minutes earlier, sparked the melee after taking exception to the tackle and squaring up to his rival.

Amid much Flackwell indignation, Wojtowicz followed quickly, after the referee consulted his linesman and flashed a second yellow at the Flackwell player who was also booked after just 15 minutes.

The sparse crowd could only wonder what would have happened had Flackwell managed to keep all their players on the pitch for the remaining 45 minutes.

They certainly hadn't looked like a team three divisions lower than their Premier Division rivals during the first half of the cup clash.

Chesham had taken the lead after 11 minutes when Terry Bowes' run from midfield ended in a goal as he blasted the ball beyond keeper Jamie Fenn's reach.

But Flackwell cancelled that out just after the half hour when Lee Watson continued his run as Chesham's back three all halted to appeal for offside. He then pulled the trigger on the edge of the area to fire past Chris Tullett and give Flackwell hope.

But it was shortlived.

Chesham came close to restoring their lead just moments later had striker Mark Watson, in a good scoring position, not had the ball snatched from his feet by Fenn.

On loan James Pinnock then had a shot blocked on the edge of the area and from a freekick, Brian Statham's goalbound strike was deflected away by one of his own players to deny Chesham again.

But just as Flackwell looked to be dealing with the pressure, Eaton let the cup tie atmosphere get the better of him and as a result Flackwell found themselves down to nine men down after a moment of madness.

The second half was a foregone conclusion with just the matter of how many Chesham would score to keep the crowd interested.

In the end, they made it four, but it could have been more as they peppered the Flackwell goal with shots, allowing the visitors to venture out of their own half just once in the final 45 minutes.

Terry Bowes got his second of the night just eight minutes after the restart to put Chesham in front again.

Then, Statham and then Dudley Campbell added a penalty each before frontman Watson rounded off the scoring after pouncing on a loose ball with three minutes remaining.
