INTERNATIONAL satellite and broadcasting company Kingston inmedia has launched new division working with cutting edge TV technology.

The company, which is now a fully integrated operating division of Kingston Communications (Hull) plc, has installed new state-of-the-art digital TV technology including a virtual reality studio.

And in February this year it launched an enterprise division and IP streaming platform, the technology base of the services the new division will provide.

IP streaming allows high quality video and audio files to be broadcast live over the internet, removing the delay associated with having to download files first.

Nick Thompson, managing director of Kingston inmedia, said the new division meant the company could provide a one-stop-shop to businesses looking to invest in and expand employee and customer communications.

"The launch of this division and the IP streaming platform is a major development for our company," said Nick.

"Our range of services and facilities includes the new virtual studio, Avid Symphony edit site and a data centre for server-based media storage."

The company has around 200 employees and is now one of the top five satellite providers in the UK, with the ability to transmit signals to Tokyo and Perth in one hop.

Since digital technology Kingston's expansion has taken off and today its clients include the BBC, ITN, ATC, and Reuters.

At this year's Wimbledon Tennis Championships, the company worked with the BBC to provide satellite communications for its new Wimbledon Interactive TV Channel.

Kingston inmedia (formerly Kingston Media Stream) now has three fully-equipped studios, including the UK's most advanced virtual studio which went live in September last year and costs around £5,000 a day to hire.

Kingston already provides private corporate television networks for clients such as Xerox, which are also used for communications training and marketing.

Phil Govan, business development manager said: "We have built up long term relationships with partners to provide cost effective solutions to their needs and have all the technology at our Gerrards Cross TV Centre to distribute video and data to anywhere on the globe."

The firm came to Chalfont Grove three years ago.
