HIGH Wycombe Rugby Club are through to the semi-finals of the Bucks Cup after producing their best performance of the season to stun Olney.

Wycs, who have already been relegated this season following a disastrous league campaign, turned on the style to set up a semi-final clash against Aylesbury in a fortnight's time.

Tries from man of the match Mark Lee and a first for the club from Alan Dobbs were topped off by kicks from Scott Cutler and Mark Brown as Wycs upset the formbook with an 18-12 win.

Club manager Dave Hunt said: "It was an outstanding team effort and if we play like that we can beat Aylesbury."

Wycs will meet the north Bucks side in the last four clash after they beat Beaconsfield 34-10 in their quarter-final.

Beaconsfield were up against it from the moment hooker Wayne Jackson injured his back in the warm up, and John Bennetts, who had not played for two months because of injury, was recruited to play hooker.

But they held it at 0-0 for the first half hour with Bennett rising to the challenge with a try-saving tackle.

But Aylesbury's pressure told in the ten minutes before half time as they ran in two unanswered tries.

The teams then exchanged penalties after the resumption and it was game-on when Simon Crow's try beneath the posts was converted by Kenny Cotter.

But the Beaconsfield try scorer became injured soon afterwards, hurting his ankle in a maul, and their problems worsened when second row Paul Renucci was sin-binned for persistent offending.

With only 14 men and their best player off the pitch, Beaconsfield's shape disintegrated and Aylesbury scored 15 points in the last ten minutes with a converted try, another try and penalty to claim their place in the last four.
