THE Cressex Astroturf Six-A-Side Summer League campaign came to a close on Saturday with CBF doing the double by taking this year's league winners and championship trophy.

Apart from Hedsor, in 1993, they are the only team in the history of the competition to do the double.

Their path to glory came after a shaky start saw Italia Unita hold them to a 1-1 draw. They pulled themselves together and went on to take Ariston Athletic 1-0 with Jamie Charles taking the honours before Isaac and White put them through to the final against Wycombe Hermits after taking FC Beaconsfield 2-1.

After nine years of trying Wycombe Hermits eventually got through to the finals after a good performance saw them pace themselves to challenge the coveted award.

They finished top of their group following goals from Ruddick, Millar and Hawes which saw them take a surprise 3-1 win over Tring West End with Scholes scoring the only goal for Tring.

Having the taste for success they carried on displaying great effort which gave them a 2-0 edge over Wycombe Town before rounding off with a full house after Speckley made it 1-0 over AFC Barnes.

It was all a little too much for the Hermits when it came to the final as CBF were on top form leaving nothing to chance which resulted in Isaac and Charles taking the championship 2-0 over the Hermits.

Third place awards went to Wycombe Town who saw their chances of gaining this year's title slip away after losing out to the Hermits during the group matches. They beat Ariston Athletic a decisive 3-0 thanks to a hat-trick by Auguste.

Tring West End went crashing out of the finals after a very poor performance which saw them lose all of their group matches.

It was a similar story for FC Beaconsfield who just couldn't gain any sort of momentum and just like Tring failed in every match.

Italia Unita's dreams were shattered when, during their first match, they fell 2-1 to CBF. Despite going on to take FC Beaconsfield 3-0 they bowed out following a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Ariston Athletic.

AFC Barnes went out a similar way to Italia when during their first match they fell 2-0 to Wycombe Town, they faired better against Tring West End by taking the game a decisive 4-1 but their hopes crumbled when, during their final group match, Wycombe Hermits rocked them 1-0.
