SCREEN legend Sir John Mills is to walk down the aisle for the first time in what had been planned as a "quiet affair" but will now be watched worldwide.

Sir John will walk down the aisle at the age of 92 with his wife Mary Hayley Bell to renew their vows after 60 years of marriage.

But the star of British films has not managed to break the habit of a lifetime as a showman and after speaking to the media the ceremony will attract television coverage to be beamed around the world. The event, which will take place today at St Mary's Church, in Denham, near to the couple's home, was organised because the couple originally married at the register office when Sir John was on army leave during the Second World War.

A church insider said: "The whole thing was supposed to be a quiet affair but Sir John has already spoken about the ceremony and once a showman I think probably always a showman."
