THE Charity Ball committee is looking for High Wycombe's very own fairy godmothers to say "You shall go to the ball'.

For the past few years, the committee has found it hard to recruit organisers for the High Wycombe and District Annual Charity Ball and this year has been particularly difficult for the few remaining members.

Chairman Ceri Syner said: "We urgently require new committee members to carry on this worthwhile and enjoyable tradition and to ensure local charities continue to benefit in future years.

"In the year 2004, the Annual Ball will be celebrating its centennial, providing there is a full committee to orgainse this special event."

The ball has been a tradition for 96 years, raising large sums for charity. Last year's event made nearly £10,000.

This year's ball, entitled Pantomania, is taking place on January 19 at the High Wycombe Town Hall. Revellers can dress up as their favourite pantomime characters or follow the black tie dresscode.
