PARENTS and staff have received official confirmation that their nursery in Bledlow is excellent for children.

An Ofsted report carried out at Bledlow Pre-school, based at the village hall in Chinnor Road, Bledlow, was published in late December after an inspector visited the site on November 28 and 29.

The report praised staff for creating a happy, welcoming environment for children and a strong partnership with parents and carers.

Nursery leader, Fiona Lang, said: "We're very happy with the report. Although being a pre-school we do this more for love, it's good to get official recognition."

Teaching gained high praise from the inspector, with creative development being a real strength of the nursery.

Elizabeth Ingram said in her report: "Teaching is extremely good, and staff plan effectively for all children who attend the setting."

On physical development Mrs Ingram said: "Many good activities promote children's dexterity, for example making bread, woodwork, threading and playing with custard."

The village hall also came in for praise for being "an impressive setting which provides an exciting range of activities through which children make excellent progress."

The report adds: "The pre-school is a lively part of the local community."

The nursery currently runs from Monday to Thursday each week and can take 26 children, with five members of staff in attendance each day.

It has also just received a lottery grant of £5,000 to build an adventure playground for the children.
