DISABLED and disadvantaged children will be on cloud nine when pilots donate flights as part of a special flying day.

Up to 500 children will be given 20 minutes circling the skies.

Fly The Children Day 2001 is being organised by Wycombe Air Centre, Airways Aero Associations and British Airways Flying Club, and will take place at Wycombe Air Park, Booker on April 26.

Bill Zeh, event organiser, said: "Last year's event was such a success for everyone we thought we'd like to do it all over again and this year we are hoping to attract sponsorship and support from business."

Local schools, hospitals and other organisations have been contacted to nominate children who must be between eight and 16-years-old.

They will have a picture taken by their aircraft before flying 2,000 feet above Wycombe and landing back down to earth to receive a commemorative T-shirt, certificate and copy of the photograph.

Last year's event cost £3,000 and raised more than £7,000 for good causes.
