THAME United Football Club took another giant step towards joining the Ryman Premier Division next season with a 4-0 win away at Wealdstone that maintained their eight-point lead at the top of Division One.

It was Thame's first game in three weeks after a weather-enforced break but they took no time to get back into their stride forcing the home side to defend in numbers.

Home keeper Derren Watts made a superb save in the 15th minute to deny Wayne Cort but was not so fortunate in the 36th minute when another cross found the head of Greg Williams. Watts kept out the initial effort only to see the ball hit defender Tony Joyce and cross the line for the opening goal.

Mark West doubled the advantage before half time when he side-footed in his 22nd league goal of the season.

The second half saw Wealdstone under the constant pressure and it was no surprise when Nando Perna added the third in the 75th minute after a five-man move.

Substitute Dave Tregurtha completed the scoring in the 89th minute.
