HIGH Wycombe Hockey Club's poor run of results in the South Premier League continued last Saturday with a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Eastcote.

The visitors opened the scoring at Cressex after ten minutes with a sloppy goal that got the better of Wycombe.

But the home team were back on level terms when Tim Prior followed up Andy Burroughs' shot.

Eastcote again took control following a quickly taken free hit which caught the home side napping and then extended their lead shortly before half time.

After the interval Wycombe briefly threatened to come back as Tim Townley combined well with Dan Strange whose shot brought an outstanding save from the Eastcote keeper.

It was not to last, however, and as their discipline went Wycombe were lucky to only concede two further goals in a sloppy second half performance.

Elsewhere, Wycome Rye Ladies enjoyed a 3-0 win over Marlow on Saturday in their last friendly before they return to league action.

Siobhan Price gave Rye a 1-0 lead before the break and Jane Clarke and Laura Lippiat added the others in the second half.
