HIGH Wycombe Cricket Club are planning to fly bowler Tim Scriven back to Bucks by private jet for next Sunday's re-arranged National Knockout Cup semi-final against Bath.

The original game was rained off on Sunday and Scriven will be away on holiday in Biarritz, France for next Sunday's re-arranged clash as the teams try again to win a place in September's Lord's final.

But Wycombe are now investigating the possibility of flying him back to Booker Aerodrome in time for the biggest match in the club's history.

Scriven has already cleared it with his wife Sheena and their three children to break off mid-holiday, if Wycombe can sort it for him to be airlifted home.

Paying scheduled air fares would set the club back £600 so the London Roaders are now hunting sponsors or a sympathetic pilot to fund the return trip by private jet.

Manager Graham Curzon-Tompson said: "He's a key player for us and we're endeavouring to fly him back for the game. We've got this far and we want to beat Bath and get to the final. Bath are a decent side and we want to give ourselves every chance."

Scriven showed his worth on Saturday when he took five wickets for Wycombe in their league win against Basingstoke.

Curzon-Tompson said: "We're going to give it a real good go to get him back for the game. He's an important bowler for us and a decent batsman as well."

The club are also investigating the possibility of using a helicopter to get him back for Sunday's 1pm clash.

Fans who retained their scorecards from last Sunday's complete washout will be admitted free to the replayed game on production of that scorecard.

The match will start, weather permitting, at 1pm.
