FAMILY and friends of 17-year-old Amy Ransom, who was killed in a mountain fall in North Vietnam on July 30, were due to gather yesterday for her funeral.

The funeral, at the parish church of St Michael and All Angels in Hughenden, was to be followed by a private service at the Chilterns Crematorium, Amersham.

Among those expected to be present were the girls from Wycombe High School, who were with Amy on the expedition, and their parents; Liz Duffy head of Wycombe High School; Hilary Brash, the teacher who went with the expedition; and Charles Rigby, executive director of World Challenge Expeditions, which organised the trek.

Amy's family have set up a fund in her name to help orphans in North Vietnam. She had worked to improve the life of orphans there and the fund will help to carry on essential work in her memory.
