IT'S a dog's life, make no bones about it.

And that is certainly the case for Ceasar the Doberman who will be marrying his childhood sweetheart, Ruby, at a wedding ceremony next week.

The canine wedding will take place in the couple's home at The Black Lion pub in Woodlands Drive, Naphill.

One-year-old toyboy Ceasar will marry his two-year-old bride after owner and pub landlord John Newman became disgusted with them living in sin under his roof.

The bizarre ceremony will be performed by a studded-collar clad former bank manager who will be asking Toby, a black labrador, to give the bride away.

Vicar for the day, Jan Pearce, who used to be manager at Lloyds Bank in High Wycombe, said: "There will be a 1957 MG Magnet so the bitch can arrive in style."

Ruby will arrive at the village green and then pad up a specially prepared aisle accompanied in traditional style by the Wedding March.

All the hounds in the village have been invited to the ceremony, and Mr Newman said he was expecting a good turnout.

Mr Pearce was keen to stress the fact that the wedding vows will be changed to accommodate the variance in species.

He added: "I'm very anxious not to offend anybody. There will not be any words in the ceremony relating to religion.

"I don't know how I got talked into this but it should be fun."

The wedding will take place at 4pm on Saturday and Midweek will be providing full coverage of Naphill's wedding of the year.
