BUCKS kept alive their hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the ECB 38 County Championship when they beat Surrey Cricket Board in a rain-affected match.

Bucks squeezed through on a faster run rate, when the second interruption for rain ended the game with Surrey on 181-6 after 42 overs in reply to Bucks' 50-over score of 234-6.

Bucks were given a flying start by Russell Lane who struck 67 off 90 balls while Beaconsfield's Nayan Dashi kept it moving with 50 not out off 60 balls.

At 102-2 Surrey looked on course for victory before Jeremy Batty took four for five in 20 balls to reduce the hosts to 114 for six and the rain helped Bucks complete their victory.

The group will now be decided on Sunday when Bucks playing Oxfordshire.
