SALLY'S husand Simon Jamieson has written to the Free Press to thank the public for their support. Simon Jamieson, of Wycombe Road, Stokenchurch, wrote:

"I wanted to write on behalf of Ben and Josh to thank the Bucks Free Press and the public of High Wycombe for their overall support since the death of my dear wife, Sally, in the tragic accident at Aitchisons estate agents two weeks ago.

Your newspaper has reported accurately and the public support has been overwhelming. This has been evidenced by the mountain of flowers at the scene, the money flowing into the Trust Fund and the amount of letters and messages of support received.

The sheer scale of the help available and the services provided by the police, hospital, social services and coroner's office have made the past two weeks bearable and have made it possible for me to explain to the boys what has happened and what life is likely to be like in the future without their mummy.

This is particularly relevant as today they will be saying goodbye to her at her funeral.

We were truly stunned when we heard that a Trust Fund was being arranged for my sons and those of Maggie Doel and even more so when we read the news of the Wycombe Marathon's support.

This obviously does not happen for the families of most traffic accident victims but the incident has touched a nerve in the community and may even prompt some action to prevent such an event happening again.

Nothing can replace what a mother can bring, particularly as Ben and Josh are so young and will live the majority of their childhood without her.

But the Trust Fund will be able to provide alternative methods of support and education and I would personally like to thank anyone who has contributed.

Our aim now is to try to get on with our lives as best we can. Indeed, we have no choice. Ben has returned to school, Josh will continue to be looked after by close family and our dear friend, Julie, and I hope to be able to go back to work next week.

Sally is all around us and always will be.

Thanks again for all of your support."
