A TRANSLATION service to help ethnic minorities who speak little English is to be set up by Chiltern District Council and other authorities.
The idea was first discussed at the Bucks Partnership Forum by councillors, the police, health bosses and local authorities. A panel has been formed to discuss its viability and whether the scheme will work on a volunteer basis.
District councillor Mimi Harker said: "We need leaflets to be translated, and to tailor it to what they need. It will open roads for the community."
Joseph Poon, who runs a Chinese restaurant, said: "If people don't understand English, they don't understand their entitlement."
To volunteer call Cllr Harker on (01494) 728906.
