DEVASTATED mother Velma Noel says her 'well-rounded' teenage son simply left a message for her on his computer saying 'love u, sorry' before taking his own life.

Bright student Christopher Noel left the message as a screen saver on his computer just hours before he was found by a passer-by at the bottom of the Dovecot multi-storey car park in High Wycombe on May 15.

Mother-of-three Mrs Noel had been away when the tragedy happened, but she returned the morning after to find the 18-year-old's room immaculately tidy.

Since his death, hundreds of those who knew him have sent letters and cards to his mother and written down memories of him on paper. Virtually all of them end with the word 'why?'.

Mrs Noel, of Benjamin Road, High Wycombe, was very close to Christopher but said he showed no signs of being upset before the tragedy. She added: "He was such a lovely child. Everyone loved him, both adults and those his own age. He just sparkled and as well as being a joker he was very kind.

"I keep racking my brain to think if there could have been something wrong but I can't think of anything and none of his friends seem to know."

Christopher, a student at Henley College, had been studying for A-levels, but showed no sign of feeling stressed.

His mother said he was academically talented and excellent at sport.

The hundreds of people who packed out the Micklefield Seventh Day Adventist Church for his funeral last Thursday are testament to his 'sparkle'.

Best friend Matthew Beadle knew Christopher, known as Noely to his friends, for most of his life.

He spoke at the service, saying: "Knowing him for 14 years made me think that I'd seen what I thought was the real Chris. Maybe I had, maybe I hadn't, but what I remember of him is what I'm going to keep in my heart forever."
