BUDDING young poets have recorded their award-winning verses for Wycombe's Talking Newspaper.
The pupils of Burford School, Marlow Bottom, were challenged by High Wycombe Lions Club to write poems about what it is like to wear glasses or to suffer from visual impairment.
It was part of an international Lion's Eye Health Programme, which aims to raise awareness of the problems of visual handicap.
Prize-winning poems came from youngsters Elaine Dudley Smith, Luke Hopkins and Emily Rogers who all wrote about being blind and Jake Taylor, Susie Harris and Imogen Mansfield whose verses were about wearing glasses.
Bob Gerhardt, chairman of the talking newspaper, said: "They were absolutely brilliant. It was very moving to hear the poems being read and I was very impressed by the imagination the children displayed. I am sure our listeners will be very touched."
