THE High Commissioner of Tanzania visited Dr Challoner's High School For Girls after pupils raised more than £5,000 to visit their link school in Mvumi, Tanzania.

Dr Shareef visited the school in Cokes Lane, Little Chalfont, last Friday, to thank students for showing an interest in his country.

Roy Abraham, a governor at the school, said: "It went extremely well. It was a great day. The girls found him so informative and it was memorable for them.

"The girls are going to Tanzania on April 6, and they will get projects to do. The High Commissioner was interested in how they raised the funds. It was a learning opportunity.

"He invited them to see him after the trip and to find out what they thought. We had a fantastic day. Sir Nigel Mobbs, Lord Lieutenant was also there to receive him."

The pupils will visit the school in Tanzania, and help with classroom duties. On the second week they will then go on a safari to some national parks.
