MOST young girls dream of a white wedding in a picturesque church arriving by a horse drawn carriage. Few would imagine arriving by speed boat and watching their betrothed take part in extreme water sports.

But for 29-year-old Shelley Mason this was exactly her wedding day.

Childhood sweethearts Shelley and David Mason became the first couple to marry at Westhorpe Water Ski Lake, Little Marlow, on Saturday.

As avid wake borders, they were so keen to tie the knot at the lake they paid for the wedding licence.

Mr Mason runs a wake boarding club at the lake. It is classed as an extreme sport and is described as snowboarding on water.

Mr Mason, 30, of Boyn Valley, Maidenhead, met his wife while they were in the sixth form at Altwood School. The couple run an IT consultancy.

He said: "Everything was perfect. The weather was glorious and Shelley looked like a modern day Maid Marion as she came across the lake with her long curly hair."

After the ceremony Mr Mason took to the water on his wake board.

He said: "We did it after supper so I had consumed a reasonable amount to drink which makes it all the more surprising that I kept the hat on."

Mrs Mason said: "I don't think I ever imagined I would get married let alone like that. It was an amazing day. So beautiful." She said their first date was a trip to the pictures and said: "I'm not sure what film it was but I do remember telling him not to expect it to last."
