A DISTRICT councillor has criticised the state of garages in Princes Risborough after years of vandalism.
Dennis Green, Wycombe district councillor for Princes Risborough, said the council-owned garages in The Crescent should be demolished.
He said: "They're in such a dreadful state that they really need demolishing. What I would like to see is low-cost housing."
Cllr Green added: "The garages at the moment are surplus to requirements. We need low-cost housing in Risborough and it would be a good idea for low-cost housing to be put in there."
Cllr Green was alerted to the problem by Princes Risborough town councillor Wally Woolf.
He said: "I'm yet to be convinced that there wasn't someone living in one of the garages but I can't prove anything."
A spokesman for Wycombe District Council said: "We are aware that there has been vandalism at the council-owned garages in the Crescent, Princes Risborough, and we are liaising with the police on this issue."
She added: "We are now in the process of inspecting the garages to ensure that they are safe while we consider the options for the site."
