GOOD sport Del McQueen helped lift spirits by opening a Multi Use Game Area (MUGA) for school and community use.
The Great Britain weightlifter was there along with David Cox, chairman of Wycombe District Council, and others to officially open the games area, at Naphill and Walters Ash County Combined School, Kilnwood, Walters Ash, last Wednesday.
Headteacher Hilary Conboy said the games area would be of great use to the school and community.
She said: "It was decided to have a MUGA as a facility for the school and the community."
The games featured are five-a-side football, netball, basketball and tennis in the summer.
Mrs Conboy said: "Some clubs from the community have already expressed an interest.
"I can see some ladies in the summer playing tennis there."
The games area cost about £25,000, of which £12,500 came from a grant from Wycombe District Council.
The rest was raised by the Walters Ash and Naphill School Association (WANSA) who organised summer fairs, sales and raffles to ensure the games area could be a reality.
A grant also came from the Outdoor Basketball Association for the basketball rings.
The school is now taking bookings from interested parties to use the facility.
