COUNCILLORS have been left shocked after a fire raged through two sheds and nearly spread to parish council offices.

The sheds behind Little Missenden Parish Council's offices burnt to the ground at 5.30pm on Tuesday.

Firefighters arrived just in time to prevent the fire from ripping through the adjacent offices, Rosetti Hall, in New Pond Road, Holmer Green .

John Barlow, clerk to the parish council, said how he was stunned to find the sheds on fire.

He said: "I came up to find the fire brigade here, and they said if it had been another five minutes, the roof of the offices would have caught fire.

"The sheds are totally destroyed. It's quite lucky it didn't catch the building."

Nobody was injured in the blaze.

Mr Barlow said he was relieved that the council had recently cleared the sheds.

"There was not a lot inside, just a couple of tins of paint and a pair of waders for the pond," he added.

Chiltern district councillor Margaret Hamilton (Con, Holmer Green) said: "I was shocked. It has damaged the council offices and the firemen had to inspect the building to make sure it's safe."

They are still in discussion as to whether the sheds, used by the council and village hall, will be replaced.

Two 13-year-old boys have been arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with incident.

They have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
