WHILE Wycombe Wanderers entertained Wimbledon on Saturday the town's hockey team travelled to South London to visit a Wimbledon side currently third in the South Premier League.

But while Wycombe's football team were able to hold the Londoners to a draw, the hockey team weren't as lucky, going down 4-1.

The opening exchanges saw Wycombe dominating the game and carving out some excellent chances.

Duncan Parniss narrowly failed to lift the ball over the onrushing keeper and minutes later went clear and rounded the keeper only to put his shot into the side netting.

After 15 minutes however things went wrong as Wimbledon scored from their first attempt on goal, and as is their habit Wycombe immediately conceded a second to leave them with an uphill struggle.

This became a mountain to climb as, with their fluency gone, they conceded a poor third goal just before halftime.

Wycombe were not out of the game, however, and came out for the second half with all guns blazing and quickly pulled a goal back when Neil Titford deflected the ball home from a corner.

They were again on top, but further chances went begging and with five minutes to go Wimbledon made the game safe with their fourth goal to leave Wycombe licking their wounds in a game they controlled for long periods.
