A TERRIFIED mum whose car and fence were torched in a series of attacks has slammed police for failing to react.

The 32-year-old graphic designer, too scared to be named, fears for her eigh-month-old son. The first attack happened at their home in Heather Walk, Hazlemere, on February 17, when a meal in Beaconsfield was cut short by a call from the babysitter who said the garden and car had been set on fire.

Other attacks have included vandals trying to pull down the fence, urinating against it, pulling up plants at the back, throwing glass bottles over the fence and repeated attacks on cars parked outside.

She claims police have refused to step up patrols even though neighbours have had similar problems.

She said: "What if these arsonists burnt the house down?

"My nan, who lives on the estate as well, said an elderly neighbour of hers just had to watch as a gang of youths jumped all over his car. The police just take our number and give us a crime number. There used to be a bobby that patrolled around here but now there is not."

Sergeant Gordon Reilly of Hazlemere police said: "With regards to Heather Walk, the beat officer is aware of the issues that have been raised there and is dealing with them. A beat officer was appointed in Hazlemere in March this year and she is out there, but there are many demands on a beat officer these days.

"We are stretched in Hazlemere we have a big area to cover."
