TEENAGERS are asking youths if they bored with Bourne End to try to get them to talk about what facilities they would like to see in the village.

Leaflets advertising a meeting called Youth Speaks asks young people to speak out and warns them "If you don't come, don't moan if you don't get what you want".

The meeting, which will be held at St Dunstan's church hall this month, will give young people in the community the opportunity to put their points across to the public and to council representatives.

Youths in the village first organised a meeting in response to claims they were responsible for intimidating residents, leaving litter strewn around and carrying out acts of vandalism.

But they are fighting back at the claims and want young people to feel more a part of the community by getting involved in more activities.

PC Barry Feltwell, responsible for Bourne End, has liaised with both groups and said that the meeting was a good move forward for the community.

He added: "They are running it all by themselves and will be sending invites to parish and district councillors as well as to the police.

"They are trying to get a nucleus of people to represent young people on the youth council which will serve as a focal point to put their views forward."

The meeting will take place at the hall, in Cores End Road, Bourne End, on May 24 at 7.30pm
