RAIN, wind and floods are causing havoc again.
There are six flood warnings along the River Thames and 61 across the region. Although the Environment Agency has issued no flood warnings around Marlow, Cookham or Bourne End, rising water is causing problems.
Meanwhile Chiltern District Council yesterday provided sand and bags as the Environment Agency put the Rivers Chess and Misbourne on flood alert as there is a risk to property. Bags are available from the council's King George V Road, Amersham, offices.
Sand piles have been sited at Chalfont St Peter (opposite The Greyhound pub), Chalfont St Giles (in the car park at the rear of the supermarket), Old Amersham (near The Swan, High Street), Little Missenden (Red Lion forecourt), and Great Missenden (by the abbey).
The council says that Chesham's needs are being assessed. The council's hotline is (01494) 732259. A drier spell was forecast last night.
The Greyhound Inn, High Street, Chalfont St Peter, was flooded on Wednesday.
Landlord Colin Watkins, said: "We had about five inches through the whole building. All the carpets are absolutely saturated. We've had to clear it all up ourselves and there's no way we can open up the pub tonight."
Part of Cookham is flooded again, just a month after the Thames burst its banks. Residents look forward to work starting on anti-flood measures after they were approved by the Environment Agency two weeks ago.
Tony Prichard, chairman of Cookham Parish Council, said: "The moor has been flooded deep enough that cars couldn't get through, and the Causeway has been open since Sunday to let out the traffic."
