THE main political parties will be put under the spotlight this evening as Marlow people are given the opportunity to quiz some of their general election candidates.

Organised by the Methodist Church in Spittal Street, Marlow, the Question and Answer session will be taking place in the church hall next door between 8pm and 9.30pm.

Paul Goodman (Con), Chauhdry Shafique (Lab), and Dr Stephen Billingham (Lib Dem), who is standing in for Lib Dem Wycombe candidate Dee Tomlin, will be attending the evening.

Paddy Gallaugher, a church steward, said: "The candidates will introduce themselves, talk about their qualifications and then the floor will be open to questions from the public."

The other candidates for the Wycombe constituency are Christopher Cooke (UKIP), John Laker (Green), and David Fitton (Ind).

In other developments on the campaign trail, the government has sent a minister to the constituency to rally the troops along and is sending another on Tuesday.

The arrival of ministers means Labour headquarters, Millbank, think the seat could fall.

Tories pooh-pooh talk of a Labour victory. Their canvass returns are showing the Tory vote holding up and that Labour supporters are deserting the party for either the Lib Dems or to a lesser extent the Conservatives, while others are saying they will not bother to vote.
