AN animal charity is urging the public to adopt animals which were abandoned over Christmas.
The Blue Cross Animal Adoption Centre in Grassingham End, Chalfont St Peter, has appealed for people to take in some of the many cats, kittens, rabbits and guinea pigs in their care that need new homes.
Anne Rowan, Centre Manager, said: "Just before Christmas we had nine guinea pigs dumped in boxes. We already have many neutered bunnies looking for homes and we are full up.
"We are also expecting many people to start ringing soon wanting to find homes for unwanted Christmas presents, and until we can rehome some of our existing cats and bunnies, we are unable to take any more animals in."
The centre is open Monday to Friday from 10am until 3pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 2pm.
