PRIESTFIELD Arboretum held its very first Open Day in June 1984 and since then extensive planning and renovation has taken place and this very special local attraction is holding its 17th Open Day this Sunday (June 10) from 10.30am-4.30pm. There are guided tours on the half hour so you can learn about the hundreds of tree species planted there. Some are extremely rare such as the Cunninghamia found by a Mr Konishi up a mountain on the island of Formosa and now you only have to travel to Stony Lane, Little Kingshill to see it.

ONE of the best summer fetes in the area is up and running this Sunday (June 10) at Prestwood Infant School in Moat Lane. Starting at 1pm until 4pm, entrance is 30p and children under three are free. There are lots of rides, games and music and a great beer tent.

A LOCAL Prestwood Charity, The Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund, is holding a grand summer draw on June 30 and tickets are now on sale. The event itself will be at Holmer Green Sports Association with live music and a sumptuous buffet. First prize is a Panasonic Music System donated by Christopher Pallet Estate Agents in Great Missenden. If you would like to donate a prize it would be most welcome. PRESTWOOD Garden Trail this year is the Moat Lane, Hotley Bottom area on Sunday, June 24 with proceeds towards Imperial Cancer Research. Parking and tickets at Moat Lane School.

UNUSUAL Plants for the Garden is the interesting title of Brian Fisher's talk to the Prestwood Gardening Club next Thursday, June 14 at 8pm in the village hall. Non-members £1.
