THE STAR appeal to help a school raise cash for a swimming pool for disabled pupils is off and running.

Maplewood School, in Downley, High Wycombe, caters for pupils with physical and sensory disabilities, as well as children who suffer with learning problems.

£500,000 is needed to build a brand new hydrotherapy pool which is essential for their physiotherapy programmes as their old one has suffered a lot of wear and tear.

A year of fundraising saw the school raise almost £20,000 but it is still have a long way to go if it is to have the pool ready by next year.

One event planned by the school and which will be attended by guest of honour Lorraine Kelly, is the Black Tie Ball which will be held on May 12.

Tickets for the fantastic night out cost £50 and include a three course meal and the chance to play at a mini casino, experiment with henna body art and enjoy the sounds of a live band.

For tickets to the dinner contact Hazel Howe on (01494) 875021 or (01628) 521115.
