PEDAL pushers have been invited to join in a bike ride to raise money for charity.

The event, organised by the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of High Wycombe, takes cyclists for a tour through the county's beauty spots on May 13.

Last year more than 380 cyclists made more than £17,800 for various charities including the Sea Cadets, High Wycombe Scannappeal and the South Bucks Hospice.

Rotarian Brian Webb said: "At the moment we have in excess of a hundred riders and we always get some more on the day. It is £10 on the day, as people come for the bike ride and don't have sponsorship, but that is fine."

There is a choice of a 30 or 50-mile ride starting at the swimming pool on The Rye, High Wycombe, from around 8am and 10am.

The journey will take cyclists through Hughenden Valley, Butlers Cross and Bledlow, and finish back on The Rye for 3pm.

Riders must be aged over 14 years and those under 17 must be accompanied by an adult.

Money raised will go towards diabetic and other facilities at Wycombe Hospital and a number of Rotary charities.
