THE political parties have now named all their candidates for the Buckinghamshire County Council elections to be held on June 7.

Candidates previously named by the parties were published in the Bucks Free Press on April 6.

The new names are Lib Dems: Anthony Dunford (Booker and Castlefield), Alan Mountford (Cressex and Frogmoor), Pamela Pember (Hazlemere North), and Christine Billingham (Oakridge and Tinkers Wood).

The extra Independents are: Joan Martin (Beaconsfield), Mohammad Nazir (Aylesbury Northern) and Nicknam Hussain Aylesbury Southcourt).

Labour's new names are Stephen Gibbons (Hazlemere North), Christine Pow (Flackwell Heath), and Douglas Vangen (Fulmer, Wexham and Iver Heath).

The additional Greens are John Laker (Marlow North), Colin Beckley (Marlow South), John Hawkins (Chalfont St Giles).

In Stokenchurch, Tory candidate Jean Teesdale has withdrawn and Frank Downes will fight the election instead. Kevin Peters, a Lib Dem, has withdrawn in Long Crendon.

Ken Hulme, Labour general election candidate in Chesham and Amersham, is also bidding to become a county councillor as is Green candidate for Wycombe, John Laker.

Mr Hulme would have to defeat the Lib Dem leader on the county council, Pam Crawford, who has a majority of 105, while Mr Laker must unseat Conservative Frank Sweatman who has a majority of 373.

Among Wycombe district councillors hoping to become county councillors are: Ricki Hussein, Julia Langley, Lesley Clarke, Ian McEnnis, James Campbell, Chris Elliott, Audrey Jones, Paul Rogerson and Brian Pollock.

Brian Pollock, a Lib Dem, is trying to unseat Mike Appleyard, the Conservative cabinet member for schools, who holds Wooburn with a majority of 212.

In Chiltern, David Meacock, Jane Bramwell, Patricia Lindsley and Christopher Spruytenburg want to add the title county councillor to their district position and in South Buckinghamshire the same ambition is held by Christopher Cole, Bill Lidgate and Paul Henry.

The closing date for nominations for election was last Thursday.
