HIGH WYCOMBE moved into second place in the Home Counties Premier League with a five wicket victory over Luton Town on Saturday.

Wycombe's victory earned them the full 25 points and enabled them to leapfrog last year's champions Banbury, who were held to a draw by Slough.

But the London Roaders are still 60 points behind runaway leaders Finchampstead, who racked up another maximum 25-point win with an emphatic victory over Radlett.

High Wycombe's victory was on the cards from the moment they had Luton in trouble at 65 for six from 35 overs.

But the Bedfordshire side's middle order then rallied with Blair (52) and Gilson (29) taking the score onto 138 before the next wicket fell and Wycombe finished off the tail with Luton all out for 176.

Wycombe's innings began slowly but steadily with Kosh Guha and Jason Harrison putting on 76 for the first wicket.

Harrison went onto make 70 and when he returned to the pavilion Wycombe needed to score 46 from the final 54 deliveries to take the win.

Jarrard Travaglia made sure that wasn't in doubt when he bashed out 40 runs from only 34 balls to see Wycombe past the winning post with two overs left.

Earlier, Travaglia had also played a major part as a bowler, returning figures of three for 51 alongside Adam Cole who claimed three victims for 31.

Meanwhile, draw specialists Beaconsfield finished all-square for the sixth time this season as they finished honours even with Basingstoke.

But they had much the better of the clash and new recruit Andy Danson, a Cambridge Blue last season, made a debut 48 as Becky reached 226 for eight from 64 overs.

Nayan Doshi top-scored for the Wilton Park club with an unbeaten 63 off 88 balls to set their opponents a stiff target.

Beaconsfield soon made inroads into the Basingstoke innings with early strikes from Lee Mason and Paul Woodroffe.

A further two wickets from Denzil Owen saw the home side struggling at 71 for five.

But Beaconsfield could not kill off the lower order as Basingstoke claimed a draw at 158 for six.

In Division Two, South African Troy Robertson hit 95 as Marlow turned the formbook upside down with a shock win over Falkland.

Robertson's innings helped Marlow to their total of 212 for seven which was too big for their opponents whose innings fizzled out on 162.

Elsewhere, Amersham's clash with Bletchley Town was cancelled.
