A SCHOOL reunion raised more than £560 for charity when it drew ex-pupils from as far away as Ireland after an appeal in the Free Press.

More than 130 ex-pupils of Cressex School, Holmer Lane, who attended the school between 1978 and 1982, gathered at their old school on March 31.

One of the event organisers, Lisa Britnell, was amazed at how many old pals travelled from West Yorkshire, Somerset and Ireland for the evening.

Mrs Britnell said: "We managed to contact around 200 ex-pupils through friends and family members who are still in the area.

"Twins Seema and Menha Kalhan heard about the reunion from their dad and both made it.

"Everyone had a fabulous time catching up with friends, some of whom we hadn't seen since leaving in 1982 and the money we made for charity was a special bonus."

Companies donated a number of raffle prizes and Wycombe Wanderers donated a signed football and tickets which were auctioned to a businessman for £160.

Alchemy Communications boss Colin Crerar organised the music and lighting on the night and raised some money towards his sponsored trek to the Andes this October in aid of Whizz Kids.
