CHILTERN Cheetah's bounced back from their two-game losing streak by beating South Wales Warriors 24-14.
Fielding an understrength side because of injuries and holidays, Chiltern held their nerve to win a seesaw encounter.
They raced into a 12-0 lead in the first quarter, with two Brendan Peek touchdowns, but then found themselves trailing at the halfway point in the match as the Welshmen roared back with 14 unanswered points.
Chiltern tightened up their defence in the third quarter with Frank Mayo winning three interceptions. This fired up the offence and they got their reward when Andy Cochrane got his first touchdown of the day to put the Cheetahs back in front.
Chiltern made the game safe with two minutes remaining when Cochrane got his second touchdown of the day to put the Cheetahs in the clear.
Warriors were then playing a catch-up game and on two occasions when they
were threatening, were picked off by Mayo. Chiltern sealed the game inside
the final two minutes, when Andy Cochrane ran in from seven yards.
