SCOUTS and Guides got a taste for action-packed jobs when they worked alongside Special Constables at a 999 fun day.

The Specials from the Chiltern Vale Police Area gave more than 1,500 children the chance to test emergency vehicle sirens and try on police uniforms at the event at Chalfont Heights Scout Camp, in Chalfont St Peter, on Sunday.

Kate Spark, police spokesman, said they were pleased so many people turned up.

She added "It was very successful from our point of view and the children enjoyed themselves."

US Marines also turned out to demonstrate their firearms and camouflage skills, and paramedics from the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Service paid a flying visit with their helicopter.
